Weekend Programme

The 4th annual Nettleden Festival takes place over the weekend of June 7th to 9th 2019. A varied programme of jazz, light and classical concerts plus local a cappella choir, all set in the 13th century Church of St Lawrence with wonderful hospitality in the church gardens. Proceeds will be for the Nettleden Church building project.

Friday 7th June, 7.30pm – Mississippi Swamp Dogs

This high-energy New Orleans’ style band will have you grooving in the pews and dancing in the aisles during an evening of joyous jazz standards. Back for a third sell-out year by popular demand we advise early booking!

Saturday 8th June, 3pm – Just A Cappella

Award winning vocal group from Hemel Hempstead.  Blending the voices of men and women in close unaccompanied harmony, singing popular songs from the 1930’s through to the 21st Century  https://www.justacappella.org.uk/

Saturday 8th June, 7.30pm – A Family Affair

Jaqueline Barron, Simon Grant and Eleanor Grant present A Family Affair, a programme of musical treats (including their own arrangements) in a wide rang of styles from Henry Purcell to Richard Rodgers.  This uniquely talented family trio – Jaqueline – singer, pianist; Simon – singer, vocal percussion; and Eleanor – singer, double bass player and bass guitarist; share a wealth of experience encompassing the London concert stage, West End theatre, BBC radio and Hollywood film.

Sunday 9th June, 3pm – Mozart Flute and Harp Concerto

  • Fantasy on a theme from Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin for Harp

Oliver Wass (harp) Paul Chapman (flute)

Having achieved a First class honours degree in Chemistry from York University, Oliver went on to be the first harpist ever to win the most prestigious prize from the Guildhall School of Music, their Gold Medal, in 2016. We welcome Paul back as an ex principal flute of English National Opera. They will be accompanied by the Strings of Forest Chamber Orchestra.

Ladies’ and Gents’ toilets on site and there is ample, well-signposted parking in the village.

Ticket Information

Tickets for each concert are priced at £17 with the exception of Saturday afternoon, which is priced at £7.

There are great offers for early purchase of a weekend pass and discounts for early purchase of individual concerts.
